Long-distance move from Bossier City, LA to Clifton, VA

Worst Experience

If you are reading this all the negatives are true. They gave me a quote which was reasonable 3000 dollars to move everything from Louisiana to Virginia but when the actual movers came they gave me a whole different price AFTER they loaded up. I was also told I would have my stuff within a week. That was also a lie. Week after week of me calling it took a month for them to finally deliver my stuff and I was missing a lot of personal stuff and some of the stuff was broken. I will say this DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They lie about everything. I ended up paying 7000 dollars double for the move and I now have to fight with their insurance company for reimbursement. At this point getting a lawyer is better and let him fight this to get my money back.

Long-distance move from Kalamazoo, MI to Monterey, CA

Beware..do not use.

Hired Nationwide Relocation for my move from Michigan to California. The experience has been a nightmare and has caused huge problems with my relocation. Was told the move would take place either Friday August 16th or Saturday August 17th and that I would be notified Wednesday of which day the move would take place. Never contacted Wednesday. Called and was told they didn't know yet but would contact me by 7pm Wednesday. Never called that night. Called them again Thursday and they didn't know which day the move would take place. On my second call to them Thursday evening was told "since it's Thursday night the move probably won't be Friday." Called multiple times on Friday and seemed like everyone was out of the office that could help me. Finally I was told the movers would be at my place on Saturday between 9am-noon. Saturday arrives and no word from anyone. At 2:30pm called and spoke with Alex about where my moving truck was. Multiple calls later, he called me back at 4:20pm and let me know that they would be there Sunday now and that I would have to pay an additional $100 to the movers when they arrived. When I told him this was unacceptable and I wanted my money back he told me that wasn't his job and he was already supposed to have left for the day but stayed here working on this for me. All this after they had increased the original quote by $600 and required an additional deposit. I have dealt with David and Scott mainly and they are great about telling you how they want to provide great customer service and make this as stress free as possible. They have failed miserably on that goal and all the did was take $1250.00 of my money and performed zero service. Would not recommend them at all.

Official company response

Mrs. Vischer,

First and foremost, I wanted to apologize for any misunderstandings or miscommunication on our end.

When you originally reserved your move on August 8, 2019 you provided us with a list of belongings which amounted to less than the minimum of 286 cubic feet and/or 2000 lbs (Inventory: 17 Items 32 pieces). This part of the process gathers and collects information we use to generate your quote. When Alex called you a couple days before your move, it was to do a Quality Assurance call to go over your inventory and further discuss the final details of your move. During that call you had indicated that you had a few more items to add to the original inventory list, 21 pieces of additional furniture to be exact. So, when Alex resubmitted the inventory list into the system it took your original quote from $1995.71 to $2657.27. You were originally below 286 cubic feet and then a couple days before the pick up date, you decided to let us know (last minute) that you were going to have more things coming with you which brought your total estimated volume to 390 cubic feet (well over 100 additional cubes). The reason you saw an increase in price was because you had more items than originally discussed. You were still honored the same rate of $5.00 per cube, for the additional items, because that’s the rate you locked in when you originally reserved you move. When a customer increases the amount of items of their inventory list, it creates a ripple affect and not only affect theirs move, but it can affect anyone else moves scheduled for pick up.

Alex did stay late on Saturday to help get accurate answers from the carrier in regards to pick up. He is supposed to get off work at 2:00pm on Saturdays and he stayed until 5:00pm to help you out, which he does not get paid overtime for.

I completely understand your frustration, and we greatly appreciate any and all feedback from our customers. Please contact us at (800) 410-8382 for questions or concerns you may have regarding your move.

Long-distance move from Michigan to Indiana

Recent move from MI to IN - Nationwide Relocation.

I recently used Nationwide Relocation Group. I have to say that Best Movers really went above and beyond my expectations. Their services were wonderful and their employees were so considerate. I was able to get moved so much faster than I thought possible to me. I highly recommend this company if you have any moving needs. They made my move so much less stressful than I expected it to be.

Long-distance move from Portland, OR to El Rito, NM

Damaged goods, unprofessional, misrepresentation.

I moved a modest amount of household goods as well as my painting studio and paintings (I boxed). Some common bad things occurred - move went from $5000 to in the end $7700, scheduling was never smooth, no driver was ever within 17 hours of when I was told they would be there (often receiving a call the day of, once two hours from initial incorrect time), the $800 surprise shuttle charge came the day of (then postponed) delivery, furniture arrived without blankets and was damaged, someone else's items were mixed in with mine the first and second delivery, and the claims process was onerous.

I supplied photos and descriptions as requested for the insurer. But then was told to use a poorly designed online, pop-up ad filled site "movingclaims.net" to provide more info. After a few hours, again organizing documents, etc.. I realized the site made its money from the pop-up ads and made customers go through unnecessary hoops. At this point I opted to preserve my sanity and withdraw from the claims process so I could share my story and be done with it! Oh yeah - their Illinois based mover, "Platinum Moving and Storage" (in quotes because they stole the logo and name from a reputable mover in California - seriously!) would not proceed with a claim unless I agreed not to leave any reviews while the process was moving along. So, I am no longer in that process - where I may have received at most 60cents/pound (per conversation with Alex at "Platinum Moving") . A 15 pound antique table they broke and gouged is currently being repaired for $435. My upright Yamaha piano from the 60's has scratches, gouges, and crushed veneer. It was in the truck on a tilt with no blanket when delivered. The two antique chairs they moved are both gouged and a long vintage dresser was moved on its edge on the truck floor - and that edge is a mess, and the drawers no longer glide smoothly.

But there is more!

When my belongings were loaded in Oregon, the guys they contracted did an awesome job. But then it all went into a kind of black hole where people handling my things simply didn't care. The Household Inventory sheets were never used. Not when moving in and out of storage. Not when moving in and out of trucks. My initial delivery was short (8) large items. Including a desk with file cabinet. Luckily - 2 weeks later when that far away Denver locker was emptied, my items were there along with some Kentucky bound stuff. When the second truck came I helped them figure out what was mine. They had no idea what was being delivered to me - only that some items were. So my large items were in the back - and the Kentucky-bound motorcycle, boxes, etc.. were mostly in the front. None of this person's items had inventory tags. We opened a few boxes to make sure they weren't mine.

Back to Illinois-based "Platinum Moving & Storage". When I was told Platinum Moving would be my mover from Nationwide Relocation Group, I Googled the name. They have great reviews! "Cool" I thought. And the Nationwide folk assured me (David?) that if things were damaged it was in their interest - and the movers - to make it right. That happy customers were essential to their business. That is the salesman talking..this is not how things shook out in the end. While Brandy was friendly and seemed concerned, she was unable to offer any real help and mostly didn't call back when promised.

It turns out "Platinum Moving & Storage" is using the real Platinum Moving & Storage name and logo without their permission! The logo is on my Bill of Lading paperwork & emails. I didn't learn this until I went to leave a Google review and saw the location discrepancy. I phoned the real Platinum Moving - lo and behold - they have been fielding calls from other unhappy moving customers similar stories. The USDOT numbers on my paperwork belong to a different mover in New Jersey. I have since filed formal complaints with BBB as well as a US government transportation site.

Nationwide Relocation claimed Platinum Moving was their preferred mover - so I know it is not a fluke. Also, many of these reviews mention Alex. I also spoke many times with Alex. I hope I never have to speak with him again. I don't believe he cares one bit about his customers - only their money. There was no sense of concern when my belongings were not delivered the first time. And no concern for the extensive damage to furniture clearly caused by inept shipping practices (no blankets?). No apology for never using the Household Inventory sheets. No apology for not checking my address for truck size allowances until the day of delivery.

Nationwide Relocation has all my photos of damaged goods, they know my full story. I believe they owe me the brokerage fee I paid them because their mover was/is duplicitous (in my best opinion). I had heard movers could be shady, but I genuinely thought by paying an established brokerage I would have professionalism and protection.

Long-distance move from Oklahoma City, OK to Fort Lauderdale, FL

Oklahoma to Florida

I’ve made the move to OKC to Ft Lauderdale several times this was the first time I used a professional company and I can’t say enough about how glad I am. The quote I received from Chris at nationwide was about $300 less than some of the bigger moving companies but we’re all of bit as professional from start to finish. They did end up having to change the pick up date but they called me about 2 weeks prior to confirm that it would be ok. Once they arrived they were able to pack up all my stuff (2 br house) within a few hours. The company that they had contracted was lone star moving and I was able to get 30 days of storage for free which was perfect as I still had to get the house in florida painted and a few other remodels which is easier without furniture. My stuff arrived undamaged and the movers even helped arrange the furniture exactly where I wanted it in the house. I would highly recommend nationwide and lone star moving to any of my friends or family overall great experience.

Long-distance move from Florida to New Jersey

Fla to NJ move.

Nationwide Relocation Group helped me coordinate the move and did a great job. Everyone I worked with was helpful and did what they said they would do. They were professional, courteous and thorough. All my belongings were handled with care and everything was delivered when promised. They called to make sure everything had gone well and that the movers had arrived. Highly recommend. Would definitely use again.

Local move within Florida

Outstanding.

Best moving company we have ever used!! Used them twice already and about to be hiring them for a third time. Adam is unbelievable, so friendly and caring, he really goes out of the way to make your move as smooth as possible. His men were careful and great as well. Not one scratch or any sort of damage on anything. Such fair pricing too. Got 3 quotes and this was the lowest.

Don't look further, hire Nationwide Relocation.

Long-distance move from Minnesota to California

Horrible company.

Where do I start with this horrible company.
Incompetent, unprofessional and liars are the words to describe these guys.
I was helping my son move from MN to CA and I received several estimates, but Alex from Nationwide came in a couple of hundred $ lower and said the move would be between 7-10 days when everyone else said 3 weeks. I consider myself to be a smart consumer but I did not see the bait and switch. BTW I supplied Alex with a written list of ALL the items and sizes to be shipped. Moving estimate #2288095
The crew picked up the contents and AFTER it was loaded said it would be $800 more! The destination fee, fuel sur-charge and contents were all more. After arguing for 20 minutes they said to call Alex the next day and it would be straightened out.
Long story short, I called Alex and talked to him 8x in the next 3 weeks on why it was 35% more. I asked him several times for a call from his manager or owner and ya know what I got? NOTHING!!.
Well 3 weeks later the contents arrived in CA and I hoped everything was there and not damaged. Guess what? Out of 39 items, (1) box was missing (and still is), (1) big screen TV was shattered and 21 other items were either broke or deeply scratched and yes, I have pictures.
I called Alex once again and told him I wanted to file a claim. He gave me a phone # for claims and I have called them 10x in the last 2 weeks but they have not answered or called me back. I then found out Alex twice gave me the wrong phone # and still to this day refuses to give me the claims phone number!!
At this point my only choice is to hope that people read this review and not hire them. I will also file a complaint with the BBB, FMCSA and AMSA. By the way Nationwide Relocation Group has a D- rating with the BBB.

Long-distance move from Bozeman, MT to Biddeford, ME

Terrible experiance.

Please don't think you are getting a good deal and waste your money with Nationwide Relocation. They are a bait and switch company who underbids you to get you to book with them then shows up and expects you to pay an extra $$ to get all of your items to your new home. My 100 year old hutch was greatly damaged as far as my freezer and other furniture, I am unable to get anyone on the phone to file a claim. I thought I was getting a great deal and would be so much less stress than moving ourselves, but after the whole event and then the movers that dropped our items off left them in the parking lot because it was farther than they agreed on and I wasn't willing to give anymore money to this sleazy company!

Long-distance move from Los Angeles, CA to Boston, MA

Lousy service.

They changed their pickup date the day before they were supposed to pick up which was not a big deal. The movers themselves were good but there were unexpected fees that I was surprised with. The delivery was supposed to take 21 days and I am now waiting for 45 days. I was told my furniture was shipped then a week later found out it had not been shipped. Then I was told it was 2 days away only to find out on the 2nd day it was going to take another 3 days. After the 3 days were up I was told there was a breakdown and it would be another 4 days. They do not return calls when they say they will and give you information that is not accurate. I would not recommend them at all.
